All Things Village Green

Next week, we begin our 13th Puzzle Mystery Quilt, Village Green. We are so excited to see our Puzzle Mystery Quilts evolve into such a fun and popular project for quilters of all ages and sewing skills. Here is all you need to know about a Cotton Cuts PMQ. Hopefully this will answer any questions you still have, and will help you make that choice to sign-up and sew your own.
What are the benefits to sewing a Puzzle Mystery Quilt?
PRE-CUT FABRIC!
I have asked MANY quilters, what is your favorite part of quilting? And what is your least favorite? And they all say the same thing…. They love sewing pieces together to create that block. But the cutting of the pieces, not so much. So how can you go wrong with a project that eliminates the mundane part of creating a quilt and moves you right into the sewing?
Colorways are already coordinated for you!
Is your daughter’s favorite color purple? Maybe you want to find a coordinated array of fall colors to display in your house. We have a colorway available everyone is sure to love. With each PMQ, we offer a variety of colorways. You are sure to fall in love with several of them. Do you need a holiday quilt to display? We’ve included beautiful Christmas fabrics and our current PMQ Village Green has a Halloween option that is just so cute.
Helen Branch, who is working on her first PMQ, Piazza, says this about her first-time experience. “This is my first PMQ and I love that the fabric is already ACCURATELY cut! The range of fabric colorways is also a plus as well as the community of support from the other participants.”
Our PMQ comes in two sizes.
The small size will give you a finished quilt to use as a throw or a twin size. The large quilt will give you a finished quilt for use on a queen size bed. And don’t forget, you have the option to add borders to make it larger. There are no limits.
There are add-on options!
So, here is how it works.
You order your PMQ on our website. You choose your favorite colorway and the size. Then you will have the option to choose coordinated thread, extra borders (to make your quilt a bit larger) and an Oops kit. An Oops Kit sends you out some extra fabric in your colorway just in case you need a fix. Hey, we’ve all been there.
On February 3rd, Clue 1 ships out. In this packet you will receive the fabric for your clue, instructions for putting it together, add-ons you ordered and your very important brochure with essential information to get you through your clues from start to finish. Make sure to keep this in a safe place. Review instructions and sew away!
*** Note: The extra borders you ordered as add-ons will arrive with one of your later clues. Do not look for them with Clue 1. ***
When your clue is complete (We’re so sorry you then have to wait a few weeks for the next one.) make sure to store it in a safe location and label it. Sticky notes are great for this. And simply store each clue in a plastic container or box. You will see that pile of clues grown quickly as you work through each month.
New PMQer Melissa House says "I love how perfectly everything goes together!"
And before you know it, Clue 10 will be on the way to you. After you have followed along, sewing together Clues 1-9, Clue 10 is going to finally reveal how to put it all together. But that’s not all. On the day your final clue ships out, Cotton Cuts will host a Big Reveal on social media, where we show you just what that completed quilt top looks like in several completed colorways.
Another first-time detective, Autumn Ela says “I love basically everything about it. I love that I don't have to cut out any pieces. I love that each month is a part to complete, it is so much easier to know I can do it in one night after my baby goes to sleep and I feel satisfied and accomplished without being overwhelmed about what the final product will look like. I like not knowing so I can't stress about it or about whether or not I am messing up the end look. I enjoy the Facebook comments and support from other quilters and Cotton Cuts. Lastly, I love the mystery of it. I have fun designing in my head what I think the final layout will be based on the parts I have. Overall 100% fun and love!”
And did you know that we have PMQ Ambassadors that will help you out every step of the way? Our Ambassadors have a huge presence on social media. They sew the clues each month, post pictures and create tutorials about how to sew each clue together. If you get stuck, reach out to them. You can find their information on our social media pages.
