Introducing our newest Java Ambassador Beth Ann
9th Mar 2020
Meet Beth Ann!
Beth Ann has just joined us and her first Java box ships out today! She was selected from a long list of talented and creative sewists. To get to know Beth Ann a little better, we’ve asked her a few questions:
How long have you been sewing and how did you learn to sew?
My grandmother taught me to how to hand sew clothes for my dollies when I was about 8 or 9. Ironically, although I’m an at least 4th generation quiltmaker, I didn’t get into serious quiltmaking myself until after my youngest child was born; I was hooked by watching quilting programs on PBS.
What is your favorite thing to sew?
Hmmm… I don’t know! I just love to make stuff – everything from home decor to bags and purses to quilts and even garments. I’m best known for my quilting, though.
What is your favorite thing about sewing?
I really enjoy choosing a new project and selecting fabric for it – the excitement of all the possibilities.
What is your favorite item you have ever sewn?
It’s a tie, I think, between my Tree of Life journal quilt, as it tells part of my story of triumph over physical challenges; and my Shimmer Clamshell quilt, as that was such a technical challenge to design and execute – I was absolutely amazed, thrilled, and relieved to finish it.
Share something interesting with us?
My faithful sewing companion is a fluffy rescue kitten who very much enjoys posing for Instagram photos with whatever project I am working on at the time – although he is now forever banished from the sewing room when I’m sewing on long quilt bindings, due to his joyful and energetic rolling around on top of the fabric until the binding fabric is more attached to him than to anything else.
We are looking forward to see Beth Ann’s creations! You can see Beth Ann here:
