A guide to understanding, participating in, and enjoying the Cotton Cuts Mystery 5.0 sewing challenge.

If you love quilting and enjoy a little mystery along the way, the Cotton Cuts Mystery 5.0 Challenge is the perfect way to combine creativity, surprise, and community in one fun sewing adventure.

Throughout the year, we’ll be hosting quarterly mystery quilts, exciting mini-mysteries, and bonus patterns—all designed to keep you inspired and engaged. Whether you're solving the mystery with us in person or joining online, there’s always something fun in store!

You may see other quilt shops that are involved in the program and there might be confusion, rest assured, if they have the M5.0 badge, they are probably a member too.

For those of you that have done mysteries with Cotton Cuts in the past, you know, we are all about our mysteries. AND what sets us apart from everyone else is our PRE-CUT quilt kits to make this an easy "Sit and Sew" experience for you.

As a new sewer, I’m always eager to learn more about my craft. Working at Cotton Cuts has only deepened my excitement, as I get to explore everything sewing has to offer while staying up to date with our company’s ever-evolving options that make quilting easier and more enjoyable for our customers. That’s why I’m always ready to dive into new and intriguing projects—especially those that allow me to sew, learn, and create something beautiful, timely, and gift-worthy. I can’t wait to get started on the Mystery 5.0 challenge on March 29!

First of all, it is important to know that the pre-cut Mystery 5.0 packets from Cotton Cuts were really popular and therefore, SOLD OUT. However, we are going to walk you through how to cut your own fabric so that you can put this project together by shopping from your own stash. Right now, your job is to find six fat quarters in your stash that coordinate well together. And we have some guidance for you in our Mystery 5.0 group on Facebook to walk you through that process.

On Saturday, March 29, the fun begins.

 Ann Lobell has received her pre-cut order in blue AND purple and is ready to sew.

 

 Videos and instructions will be released throughout the day that will guide you through the mystery from start to finish. There will be instructions for the pre-cut sales and also for those who are shopping their stash. Those instructions will include the cutting instructions for your six chosen fabrics in the beginning of your videos. Whichever path you are taking, at the end of the day, you will have all you need to complete your mini mystery project.

If you ordered a Cotton Cuts Pre-Cut bundle, you are all ready to go. You just have to be patient until Saturday March 29th arrives. If you are shopping your stash, you need to have your coordinating fabrics, in fat quarter size, ready to go by that day.

Once your six fabrics are chosen, just set them aside and join the group in the countdown to fun, just a short time away.

Because Saturday morning, March 29th, you will rev up your machines and start this exciting new Cotton Cuts project. There will be two sessions. One for those who ordered a pre-cut colorway and the second one will begin with cutting instructions for those who chose to shop their stash. And don't worry if you cannot start when the videos are released. They will be available to all, so start your project when your ready, and watch your instructional videos at your leisure, if you can stand to wait.
