Cotton Cuts quilters find new ways to breathe additional life into our Puzzle Mystery Quilt fabrics with Snippets!

Quilters see potential in all fabrics, especially scraps. And at Cotton Cuts, we know there is untapped potential in the fabric scraps that come off of our die cutters when we cut out shapes for our Puzzle Mystery Quilts.

In a valiant effort to make sure that these beautiful fabrics do not go to waste, we’ve come up with ways to extend the life of our fabrics from beyond the bolts all the way to the scraps that are leftover from die cuts. These scraps vary in sizes, but hidden gems can be found, such as pieces that can measure up to 4” squares and triangles. How cool is that?

Little scraps, those we think are finally too little to go into a Snippet bag for future use, end up in our “salad bowls” which are collected for use as stuffing. One of our favorite donations is to ship these full trash bags off for use in dog beds for shelters.

Knowing that our Snippet Bag contents still have a lot of life left to become the base of additional projects and beautiful scrappy quilts, we offer these up on our website at crazy low prices because we want you to find more fun things to do with these fabrics. And we love to see that creativity flow.

The Cotton Cuts Snippet Challenge

This has become an annual event that we are so excited about because we want our fabrics to find additional life outside of our PMQs.

Just take a look at all of the beautiful projects that have been created by our followers, using our Snippet Bags.

As usual, our Cotton Cuts loyalists sewed above and beyond our expectations. They created amazing projects that took our breath away.

Here’s how it works:

1. Order a Snippet Bag. (Yes, you can even use scraps of your own.)
2. Decide what you want to create with those snippets. What do you see when you look at those pieces? Do you see a bowl cozy? Placemats, make-up or trinket bag? Maybe a wall hanging is just what you need in the corner of your living room, and those fabric colors are a perfect match. Or is a lap quilt the way to go?
3. Our challenge offers you two categories: small project and quilt. Enter one or both, we encourage it all. You may just be limited by how much time you have to sew.
4. Once your project is complete, upload photos of your entry and we will do the rest. Then, you just ask your friends and family to support you with a vote.

And you know we love to give away prizes. This year our prizes included a Tula Pink Oliso iron plus six months of our Classic, Modern Maker or Java memberships OR credit toward a Puzzle Mystery Quilt. Who knows what fun prizes we will come up with next year????
