#ccstaycation Trish from Indiana

6th Oct 2020

Hi, I am Trish and I have been a Cotton Cuts member since Jan 2017.

I wanted to join in on the #ccstaycation fun and tell you about Jeffersonville, Indiana, where I have lived for 21 years. Jeffersonville is in Clark County and is on the banks of the Ohio River across from Louisville, Kentucky. It is often called the Sunny Side of Louisville. We have the benefits of a smaller town but also the benefits of being near a larger city.

Jeffersonville is where the pizza chain Papa John’s was founded and is also home to the US Census National Processing center.

Some wonderful places to eat include:

Parlor Pizza

Cast Iron Steakhouse

HM Frank O'Shea's Jeffersonville

In Jeffersonville and Louisville there are many places to visit.

Shimpff's Confectionery is a candy store/museum/lunchroom. It is known as one of the oldest, continuously operated and family owned business in the US. They provide demonstrations of candy making and tours. It is in downtown Jeffersonville.

The Big Four Bridge is a reclaimed train bridge that was converted to a walking bridge that connects Jeffersonville and Louisville.

Howard Steamboat Museum

Falls of the Ohio State Park (in neighboring Clarksville)

Churchill Downs

Quilt Shops:

Scrappy Patches

The Quilting Bee

Among Friends Quilt Shop

Fun Facts

Louisville Slugger bat factory was in Jeffersonville from 1974 to 1996.

Clark County was the home of General George Rogers Clark and was the starting point of the Lewis and Clark Expedition in 1803.

Jeffersonville was a stop on the Underground Railroad.

During the Civil War Jeffersonville was a hub for the Union Army because of its locations on the Ohio River, that steamboats were built there, and it was the southern end of northern railroads.

Be sure to come back next week for our next #ccstaycation feature!
