Fabric Field Trip with the Cotton Cuts Crew!
28th Oct 2021
Hi it’s Ali again! So while chatting over lunch with the lovely ladies I work with here at Cotton Cuts, I mentioned that I had never been to a quilt shop….crickets. I know, super crazy right?! Yes, technically Cotton Cuts is a quilt shop, but not in the traditional sense. So, when they picked their jaws up from the floor, they declared that we need to take a field trip to a few of our local quilt shops. I love adventures! We decided to visit 3 vastly different quilt shops, so I could experience what each one had to offer. Now, this is not a review of these shops, so I’m not going to mention where we went, but OMG did we have fun!
Our first shop specializes in batiks, which are my absolute favorite. I have never met a batik I didn’t love. I could spend numerous hours in this shop…which would be endless fun for me, but not my bank account! These fabrics were unbelievably beautiful, and I now have many ideas swirling in my head for projects down the road. I grabbed a couple gorgeous fabrics for who knows what, but I had to have them! Amanda and Amy practically had to tear me out of there kicking and screaming because I did NOT want to leave…but then they mentioned lunch, so off we went!
Our second shop was your more traditional quilt/fabric shop. They had lots of inspiration projects around and kits they put together to make the shopping experience easier so you can grab and go. I purchased some glow in the dark fabric to make my youngest daughter a Halloween candy bag, she’s going to love it!
Our third and final shop was a small, independent shop that had recently moved to a new location. It was cute! Amanda and I searched for some fabric she needed for a project, but it’s a popular one, so we struck out. We saw some gorgeous fabrics and, of course, lots of inspiration for more projects that may or may not ever get started…or completed. I could honestly spend all day looking at fabrics, getting ideas from amazing creators, and plotting my next project…but my family likes attention too. Now, I need to make that Halloween bag!
